An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Modern Apprentice to work within our Business Rates & Sundry Accounts Team. This post would normally be based at John Muir House, Haddington. However, as a result of the current COVID-19 restrictions, the successful candidate may be expected to work from home. IT equipment will be provided.

The Modern Apprenticeship will provide an opportunity to gain an insight into the work of East Lothian Council and to gain experience and skills in an office environment while working to achieve the SVQ Level 3 in Business & Administration.  The duration of the Apprenticeship will be for a fixed term 18 month period.

The Apprenticeships are only available to young people aged between 16 and 19 years who reside in East Lothian.

Duties:
You will provide administrative support to staff by working within the Business Rates & Sundry Accounts Team.  With good interpersonal skills, you will be flexible, a team player, confident and able to converse with members of the public.  Daily duties will include answering the telephone, responding to emails, assisting with electronic document management, word processing and a variety of related administrative duties.

Training in the use of specialist software packages will be provided, however a basic knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office packages is desirable.

You must provide evidence of competency in literacy and numeracy skills such as a minimum of three standard grades level 3 passes (now National 4/5 - this needs to be updated) or above to include English and Mathematics.

Job Details

To undertake a Modern Apprenticeship Business Administration Level 3 and provide an efficient and effective clerical support to the Revenues Service.

3 x National 4/5's or 3 x Standard Grades at General or Credit Level including Maths and English.
