This position is only open to young people aged between 16 and 19 years of age who reside in East Lothian

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Modern Apprenticeship within East Lothian Council's Benefits and Financial Assessments Service based in Haddington.

The Modern Apprenticeship will be based at the Council Buildings, Haddington, with ongoing support from the Council's training provider to achieve the SVQ Level 3 in Business & Administration. The duration of the apprenticeship will be for a fixed term 18 month period, with the successful candidate commencing in post in February 2018.

The apprenticeship is only available to young people aged between 16 and 19 years and residing in East Lothian. Duties:

You will provide administrative support to staff within the Benefits and Financial Assessments Service. With good interpersonal skills, you will be flexible, a team player, confident and able to converse with members of the public. Daily duties will include; scanning and indexing of mail, dealing with the public on the telephone and face to face, maintaining computer and manual records, photocopying, word processing and a variety of general office tasks.

Training in the use of specialist software packages (if applicable) will be provided, however a basic knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office packages is desirable.

Job Details

To undertake a Modern Apprenticeship Business Administration Level 3 and provide efficient and effective clerical support to the Benefits and Financial Assessments Service.

Relevant Qualifications
A minimum of SVQ1/Standard Grade General level English/Maths or National 4 English/Maths or Literacy/Numeracy or Intermediate 1 Communication/Numeracy and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.

Disclosure

This post involves accessing the public services network, therefore the preferred candidate will be subject to the Baseline Personnel Security Standards (BPSS). The preferred candidate will be subject to a Basic Disclosure provided by Disclosure Scotland prior to a formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
