Knox Academy is a state school situated in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland. At census 2016 the roll was 762 with roll projected to steadily increase over the next decade. We pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming school. The school has been refurbished and sections re-built, this has enhanced the facilities in the school, including ICT, a large games hall and gym, drama suite etc. The school is accessible to all.

A background in Learning Support is essential, alongside an understanding of SQA procedures and demonstrable success in successful transition planning for young people.

The PT Learning Support post is a whole school remit, reporting to the Depute responsible for pupil support. The post holder will play a key role in supporting pupils with additional support needs and improvements identified following our recent HMIe inspection, November 2016. The learning support department currently has one other part-time teacher line managed by this post holder and 9 ASN auxiliaries which are operationally deployed by the post holder but managed by the school business manager.

There is a proud tradition of excellent education in Haddington and the pupils, staff and parents of the school work hard to continue this tradition.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, energetic and with the ability to communicate their enthusiasm to the pupils and other staff. They should be prepared to demonstrate a commitment to self-evaluation and lifelong professional learning.

Teachers who join East Lothian Council during the school session will only be entitled to a pro-rata salary and annual leave entitlement until the end of the school session. A calculation will be carried out upon commencement and pay will be adjusted in the first available pay period to ensure they are paid correctly until the end of the school session. It may be necessary to make adjustments over several months in these instances employees will be advised in writing.
