This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Health Officer position in a progressive Business Regulation Team of the Environmental Health Service.
Operate over a specific technical area(s) of work and deal with the more complex problems arising from the discharge of the Council's responsibilities under public and environmental protection legislation, codes of practice and guidance, through the inspection or sampling of products or premises. All tasks to be carried out in accordance with the Council’s Enforcement Policy for the purposes of protecting the public from risks to their health, safety and wellbeing.
Specific Technical areas of work include:
- Food & Safety, including Food Safety/Standards, Health and Safety, Animal Health and Welfare, Plans and Licensing, Smoking Ban Enforcement, Private Water Supplies.
- Environmental Protection, including Public Health, Pollution Control, Pest Control and Contaminated Land.

Education: Educated to degree level and hold the REHIS Diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent with previous experience within Environmental Health and its associated disciplines.
This post involves accessing the public services network, therefore the preferred candidate will be subject to the Baseline Personnel Security Standards (BPSS). The preferred candidate will be subject to a Basic Disclosure provided by Disclosure Scotland prior to a formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
