East Lothian Rehabilitation Service (ELRS) is a continually expanding integrated service which comprises over 140 staff of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Telecare Officers, TEC Occupational Therapist, Care Review Occupational Therapists, Specialist Occupational Therapists for Adaptations, Complex Equipment, Children, postural management and enhanced Moving & Handling, Exercise specialists and Musculoskeletal service.). We are part of the  East Lothian Health & Social Care Partnership (ELHSCP) are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist to work within  our newly created Single Point of Contact (SPOC) Service based at East Lothian Community Hospital. The SPOC is operational Monday to Friday, Hours of work are 9 - 5.

The post holder will be responsible for carrying out telephone consultations with both public and professionals seeking advice or requesting interventions from Community Occupational Therapy. Here in East Lothian, we utilise the innovative Request for Assistance model, which is based on good conversations and an assets based approach in supporting early intervention, prevention and self management. Where these elements are exhausted, we will allocate to staff for assessment, rehabilitation and specialist interventions if required. We require an experienced individual with experience of community work, adaptations ,rehabilitation, housing assessments and moving and handling knowledge to be able to fulfil the role fully. Training will also be provided where this is required.

This post would suit an individual who is  looking to take on a new role as a senior practitioner and developing telephone consultation skills. There will also be numerous opportunities for additional service development and innovation. There is also  scope for those who would still like to carry out clinical face to face assessments.

This is an exciting and rare opportunity to be part of an innovative and forward thinking team who strive to offer the best solutions and interventions to the citizens of East Lothian.

We have recently launched our new website ' Access to a Better Life in East Lothian' where our ethos can be seen.
