Knox Academy is a state school situated in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland. At census 2016 the roll was 762 and is steadily rising. We pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming school. In the last ten years, the school has been refurbished and sections re-built, this has enhanced the facilities in the school, including ICT, a large games hall and gym, drama suite etc. The school is accessible to all.

The curriculum provides a full range of subjects from S1-S6 and reflects the Curriculum for Excellence initiative. Pupils are encouraged to access the extensive and varied menu of extra-curricular activities on offer.

The Computing Department forms part of the Numeracy & Technology Faculty (Mathematics, Computing/IT, Technology). The department delivers the full range of Computing courses National 4 to Advanced Higher, is innovative, inclusive (N2/3 courses are offered) and attracts a high uptake in certificated courses. Experiences and outcomes are met in the S1/2 broad, general education.

There is a proud tradition of excellent education in Haddington and the pupils, staff and parents of the school work hard to continue this.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, energetic and with the ability to communicate their enthusiasm to the pupils and other staff and with a track record of delivering a full range of Computing courses. They should be prepared to demonstrate a commitment to self-evaluation and lifelong professional learning. Applicants with a dual qualification in another subject would be highly desirable.

Job Details

Teaching relevant subject through S1-S6.

Subject to the policies of the school and the education authority the duties of teachers, promoted and unpromoted, are to perform such tasks as the Head Teacher shall direct having reasonable regard to overall teacher workload related to the following categories-


Teaching assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction
Developing the school curriculum
Assessing, recording and reporting on the work of pupils
Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration
Providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education
Promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils
Working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals
Undertaking appropriate and agreed continuing professional development
Participating in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review
Contributing towards good order and the wider needs of the school

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Registered with GTCS as a teacher of relevant subject

For Permanent Posts: Full GTCS Registration is required.
For Temporary Posts: Full/Provisional GTCS Registration is required.
