Knox Academy is a state school situated in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland. At census 2016 the roll was 762. The ethos of the school revolves around the three core values of wisdom, engagement and respect. We pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming school. The school is accessible to all.
The curriculum provides a full range of subjects from S1-S6. We aim to meet the needs of all the pupils, providing a curriculum that is appropriate in terms of breadth, depth and challenge. We endeavour to treat all pupils as individuals and hope that they, their parents and the community will work in partnership to provide them with the support and opportunities that will enable them to make their next educational steps. Pupils are encouraged to access the extensive and varied menu of extra-curricular activities on offer.
Food and Health is part of the Health & Well Being Faculty which includes Guidance/Social Education and Physical Education. An exciting opportunity has arisen for one full time or two part-time teachers to initially provide a broad and general Food & Health course for pupils in S1-S4 for the remainder of this session, thereby shaping the provision of Food & Health at Knox Academy in the future. The successful applicant(s) would be a single post department this session, with auxiliary support currently each morning.
There is a proud tradition of excellent education in Haddington and the pupils, staff and parents of the school work hard to continue this.
The successful candidate will be outward looking, energetic and with the ability to communicate their enthusiasm to the pupils and other staff and with a track record of delivering Food & Health courses. Applications from all disciplines of Food & Health or Home Economics are welcome, and applications from candidates only seeking part-time work would be considered. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate a commitment to self-evaluation and lifelong professional learning.
The school is happy to consider recruitment to this post with more than one teacher on part-time contracts provided the timetable commitment can be met.
