Due to the creation of this new post, we have an exciting opportunity to develop our registered Learning Disability Services within East Lothian.

The post holder will have oversight of the day to day running of our Adult Day and Resource Co-Ordination Services, Shared Lives and Hardgate Respite/Short Break Service.

The successful applicant should have experience of working with individuals who have a learning disability within a community setting and be enthusiastic and creative to support the development of these services.

The successful applicant should also be able to demonstrate effective leadership and management skills as they will require to supervise, and line manage staff across these areas whilst also working with the wider Multidisciplinary Team.

To assist in the leadership and management of the registered Adult Learning Disability Service to provide a high quality person centred service for adults with a Learning Disability throughout East Lothian in accordance with relevant legislation, national standards, NHS and Council policies and plans with a commitment to achieve best value.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Degree Qualification or equivalent SSSC recognised qualification e.g. SVQ 4 Health and Social Care at SCQF Level 9 and relevant health and social care management experience. 

Hold or be willing to work towards a leadership and management qualification at SCQF level 10 or equivalent.

Evidence of a commitment to Continual Professional Development.

Scottish Social Services Council: 
Registration with the Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC) is an essential requirement of this role. If you are appointed and are not already a member of the relevant section of the SSSC Register in relation to Day Services; Shared Lives; and 
Respite, you will be required to apply for registration as soon as possible and this must be achieved within six months of your start date. 

Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
