East Renfrewshire has a growing ageing population and an increasing number of people living with disabilities and long term conditions who are our greatest users of health and care services. We have a strong, committed multi agency partnership who are passionate in promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all adults at risk of harm within East Renfrewshire.

The Chief Officers Group is seeking to appoint an independent chair for the Adult Protection Committee.  We require an experienced individual with significant knowledge and skill in public protection who has previously worked in a senior management role.  An understanding of the policy and legislative framework for adult protection is essential, as well as an understanding of the current national developments in adult, child and public protection.  In addition, the successful applicant must possess the necessary strategic, professional and personal skills, vision and leadership to drive forward our ambitious quality assurance and improvement plan to protect and safeguard the wellbeing of all our adults who at risk of harm and abuse.

The role will be part time and is expected to involve a minimum commitment of 15 days per annum. 

The post-holder will operate in a self-employed capacity as an independent practitioner and will be appointed for 3 years.

Remuneration will be at a rate of £300 per day. 

This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. It is an offence therefore to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults.

The successful candidate will therefore be required to apply for a PVG membership statement which should be presented to East Renfrewshire Council.
