We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic social worker to work within the Youth Intensive Support Services, where we provide flexible, intensive services to children and young people aged from 12-26 years and their families, looked after young people (12 years of age and over) and young people eligible for continuing and aftercare services in line with the Children and Young People’s (Scotland) Act 2014.
You will be joining a multi professional team whose focus is on relational based practice and bringing a fresh, creative approach to meeting the needs of our young people. The team is already gaining recognition in national forums for its creative and engaging approach to supporting young people and their families.
As our service is targeted at children and young people who are suffering, or likely to suffer, significant harm without the provision of services, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong skills, experience and effectiveness in working with children who are looked after; those at risk of being looked after and those who are in need of rehabilitation from an institutional setting; children and young people who are suffering significant adversities and/or exhibiting high risk behaviours due to family breakdown, trauma, emotional and mental wellbeing. You will be confident and dynamic in risk assessment and be able to offer a variety of interventions to young people and families, including individual and group work.
You will have previous experience in working directly with children, young people and their families and have a knowledge and understanding of some of the challenges facing young people today. You will be able to demonstrable the ability to work with others to support young people to be safe, remain at home and work towards positive destinations. You will have strong communication skills, personal drive and a passion to build strong working relationships with young people and their families.
If you are not currently registered with SSSC you will commence employment as a Social Work Assistant (Grade 7 - £21,990 to £24,070) until full registration is obtained.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. It is an offence therefore to apply if you are barred from working with children and protected adults.
