Our Graduate Scheme is designed to give you a positive start to your career in local government.  You will be mainly based in the Planning & Environment Team in Falkirk but will also work from home.

You should have an HND or above in landscape design, architecture, construction, environmental planning, project management, technical services I.T. related, forestry, agriculture, horticulture, land or estates disciplines, or other recognised relevant subject is required.

You will provide technical support for the Councils’ Planning, Parks, Environment and Bereavement service functions including:

  • Use of GIS mapping systems
  • Use of Adobe desk top publishing software
  • Site inspection and recording,
  • Procuring small improvement works on Council land
  • Responsible for delivering key service improvements

We’re looking for you to have an interest in the outdoors, good technical and I.T. skills including GIS and/or CAD, databases and media platforms.

You’ll have an awareness/underpinning knowledge of either delivering physical projects, and/or environmental planning regulation.

You’ll assist with progressing capital project delivery work and regulatory functions relating to trees, landscape, design, parks, play areas, outdoor access and the historic environment.  You’ll also assist with maintaining and developing spatial data sets and geographic information systems, the desk top publishing of planning documents, and responding to the Scottish Government's digital strategy for planning.

You will sometimes be required to travel to sites or meetings at other premises and in connection with work activities. A full driving licence is desirable (Pool cars are available).
