Reporting to the Revenues and Benefits Manager, you will have responsibility for the Income Management Team covering 7 posts.

You will be responsible for prompt and accurate processing and reconciliation of all council income to the financial ledger, including day to day management of Income Management software, and preparation of final accounts for Council Tax, Non-Domestic Rates , Housing Benefit and Rent.

You will research and interpret changes in Accounting Practices and legislation, as they affect Council income, and ensure systems are maintained and developed to meet the needs of the Council.  You will also assist Revenues & Benefits Manager to complete Government Grant claims and statistical/financial returns in accordance with submission deadlines, and to monitor revenue budget for the Revenues and Benefits division.

Key functional responsibilities include management of Income Management software, arrangements for banking of council income, and liaison with External Auditors in relation to all income related matters.

It is essential that you are a CCAB qualified accountant with a practical understanding of local government finance and income sources. You will be an effective communicator, capable of providing clear leadership for your team.
