Job Details

To provide a professional customer focused Business Support service. Business Support provides a wide variety of administrative support and we currently have vacancies supporting the following areas of the council:

  • Education & Children’s Services

The Service provides professional support and advice on issues covering financial monitoring and planning, Recruitment and Payroll, Human Resources, administration, information and communication technology, care service contracts, staff development and training, property and estate management, transport, emergency planning/response and health and safety.

The role includes word processing complex documents including presentation of information in an effective easy to read format; arranging meetings and events as requested by manager e.g. staff conferences; requesting, collating and circulating documents in advance of the meeting; providing administrative support to meetings, including comprehensive minute taking; providing a customer contact response service; greeting visitors, Councillors, MP’s; dealing with enquiries, telephone calls, e-mails, redirecting for resolution as appropriate; providing information management and process support in compliance with the Fife standard.

Fife Council operate a flexible working policy where employees can work between home and office, Monday to Friday.

Business Support offers an individual plan for all employees which will enable opportunities for further development and training as needed.

The Person

Educated to SCQF level 7 which includes HNC or Advanced Highers or equivalent.

You should ideally have experience of using current Microsoft computer-based applications to carry out a range of duties. Good communication skills are necessary including an awareness of customer care with telephone, e-mail, and face to face enquiries.

An awareness of confidentiality is essential, along with how you might handle this type of information in a secure and safe manner.

Key skills required include accuracy, attention to detail, time management, customer service, interpersonal and organisational skills.

You are required to have good levels of interpersonal skills to enable you to work as part of a team or on your own as required.

You will be required to attend a virtual interview of around 30 minutes followed by a short skills test.

You may be required to obtain a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Membership or Disclosure Check for this role.
