An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Adoption Social Worker in the Adoption Team.

The role of the Adoption Team is to recruit, assess and approve adopters, to provide post adoption support, to provide adoption counselling for adopted adults, to undertake section 19 adoption assessments and to undertake permanence planning for relinquished babies.

The successful candidate will:

Participate in Adoption Preparation groups

The Adoption Team works closely with colleagues in C&F Social Work Teams to ensure better outcomes for children.

Our highest priority is the protection of children who may be at risk of harm, and the support of families to allow children to remain at home wherever possible. Where this is not in children’s best interests, our focus is on providing the best quality of care away from home for children and young people.

Social Work staff work closely with colleagues in other services and agencies in providing an integrated approach that seeks to meet the range of different and complex needs that vulnerable children and their families experience.

The Person

A Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent) qualification is essential, as is registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.

The ability to travel throughout Fife is essential.

The pattern of working hours will be determined for individual remits and on occasions may include evenings and weekends.

There will be a requirement to attend meetings out with normal working hours, when necessary, subject to service user and staff availability.

There will also be a requirement to attend out with normal working hours for development, training, registration compliance etc. when necessary.

You are required to register with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up employment in this role and to complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) over the first registration period.

Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.

Until 5th March 2023, you may be eligible for a fee waiver if you join the social care sector (certain roles only) for the first time and the role requires PVG membership. This is a great time to consider a change of career into Social Care as, if eligible, this initiative could personally save you up to £59.00. You will also save money on your SSSC fees as these will now be paid for all roles and grades by the Scottish Government.
