Job Description

We are recruiting a Learning Assistant (GoMA Youth Group), to join our 3,000 strong team of dedicated staff and volunteers. As Learning Assistant for the GoMA Youth Group you will deliver a wide range of learning experiences developed with, by and for young people. The GoMA Youth Group is a programme to engage young people aged 16–25 with collections and programmes at the Gallery of Modern Art. This post and programme is supported by Creative Scotland. 
The majority of your time will be spent delivering activities, either online or in-person, in a workshop setting or on the museum/gallery floor. You will use the museum/gallery collections as the focus for learning and community engagement; work with the young people in the group and with any additional audiences they decide to engage with, in a co-production approach; assist with the development of new sessions through research into the collections, sourcing of suitable resources and finding out about the needs of our visitors; and monitor and evaluate the programme, adapting delivery accordingly.
To be successful in this role you have the following skills and experience:
·         Relevant experience of working with art, drama, social history, natural history or science and technology in an educational or community setting
·         Excellent verbal communication skills are key to this role. Must demonstrate experience of providing information and/or delivering learning activities to groups/members of the public.
·         Ability to engage with and inspire a range of different audiences, particularly young people
·         Organisational skills – managing work programme as well as managing groups / sessions
·         Ability to evaluate and reflect on content and delivery of programmes, and adapt accordingly to meet audience needs

This post is temporary for a period up to 1 year.
