We are recruiting a Museums Project Assistant (Our Shared Cultural Heritage), to join our 3,000 strong team of dedicated staff and volunteers. This role is an exciting opportunity to work in world class museums including the Burrell Collection and Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, with a focus on activity developed with, by and for young people. You will assist with events, work with OSCH project participants, and engage with Glasgow's South Asian communities, museum visitors and volunteers.

• Interested in Scottish South Asian heritage and representation
• Experienced in working with or advocating for Scottish South Asian communities, or individuals with lived experience within the community
Based at the Burrell Collection, this role is part of the team for the Our Shared Cultural Heritage (OSCH) project. OSCH is a youth-led programme that explores the shared cultures and histories of the UK and South Asia. We are working with 11-25 year olds to influence how museums represent South Asian heritage, and to make museums better places for young people to explore identity and connect with others.
Whilst in contract, the post holder will be supported by Glasgow Life Museums to undertake a work-based qualification - SVQ Level 3 Museums and Galleries Practice.
To be successful in this role you have the following skills and experience:
• Demonstrable interest in supporting diverse young people’s influence within community or cultural settings
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, in person, written and by telephone
• Proficient literacy and numeracy skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Commitment to undertake a work-based SVQ Level 3 qualification to reflect skills learned during the contract
The OSCH project is a partnership between British Council, Glasgow Life, Manchester Museum and UK Youth. It is funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund.
