The European Championships is a new multi-sport event which will be held in Glasgow and Berlin in the summer of 2018. More than 8000 athletes, officials and media are expected in Glasgow with a television audience of around one billion.
The new event will be run in close partnership with the international and national sports federations for each of the six participating sports. The Glasgow 2018 European Championships will allow Glasgow and Scotland to continue to build on the economic, cultural and sporting legacy achieved by staging the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate with proven sports PR experience to work in close collaboration with our partners and stakeholders to take a lead role in the planning, development and implementation of the sport PR and Communications Strategy.
Working in a complex landscape with multiple partners, the candidate will have significant experience of media relations at major sporting events, and the proven ability to build and maintain excellent relationships across a range of stakeholders including the media. In addition, the candidate will have significant experience of influencing internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
The successful candidate will be based at Commonwealth House, 32 Albion Street, Glasgow.
The successful candidate must be able to commit to evening and weekend working shortly before, and during, the Championships. Restrictions on annual leave will also be necessary in the summer of 2018.
This is a fixed term secondment opportunity up to August 2018.
