Job Description

Glasgow City Council have recently developed a suite of new transport policies and strategies, from the Glasgow Transport Strategy to the City Centre Transformation Plan, Active Travel Strategy to a programme of Liveable Neighbourhoods. Working collaboratively, we aim to see a step change in sustainable transport provision in the city to support our goals of being a net zero carbon city by 2030 with a 30% reduction in car vehicle kilometres.  
As a result of this an exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding candidate to help oversee a step change in sustainable transport provision in the city, with an initial focus on bus services and infrastructure in the city. Based in Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability, you will initially lead on the project management of Bus Partnership Fund work in Glasgow, working internally with delivery teams on infrastructure as well as with appropriate partner organisations across both public and private sectors. You will also help to oversee various sustainable transport initiatives within the new Transport Strategy team, helping to deliver on the Glasgow Transport Strategy and working collaboratively with colleagues the Council and with external stakeholders. 
You will preferably be a transport planning professional and/or chartered engineer with a strong track record of project managing sustainable transport services and infrastructure, particularly bus. You will also have experience of managing large scale strategic programmes and projects. A Degree or postgraduate qualification in Transport Planning or Civil Engineering or equivalent and Chartered Transport Planning Professional or Chartered Engineer Status or relevant equivalent are essential and a Project or Programme Management qualification and Membership of professional body is desirable.
