Reporting to the Head of Planning, Housing and Building Standards (Designated Chief Planner in terms of the Planning Act 2019), you will make a major contribution to Service development and delivery, assisting in meeting Service objectives by influencing, challenging and empowering others in pursuit of specific goals/service improvements. You will provide Strategic Leadership for Housing and related Regeneration initiatives, critical for driving housing improvement in the city, as well as being responsible for the direct management and delivery of the legal, statutory and regulatory Housing functions for the authority and providing strategic advice to the Directorate, Chief Executive and Senior Members on all related issues. You must have extensive experience in housing development and strategy, at senior management level, in a rapidly changing environment. You are required to demonstrate leadership skills in a strategic and operational context, with highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, together with significant experience of managing people and resources including performance, workload allocation and prioritisation and management of budgets against targets. A relevant Degree and/or postgraduate qualification in Housing, Planning and related disciplines is essential. Experience of committee activity and engaging with elected members and membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
