Job Description

We are looking for an exceptional and experienced candidate to shape the future of transportation in Glasgow. Based in Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability, you will lead and manage the team responsible for the development and delivery of our new, innovative and ambitious transport strategies, working with appropriate partner organisations across both public and private sectors.  The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with the current Development Control team in order to support the broader development aspirations of the city.  This will include delivering on our sustainable, economic, social and environmental goals.
A proven leader, you will have knowledge of international best practice, and have, or be capable of generating, networks with other cities and conurbations, as well as academic institutions, to refine and deliver such best practice in Glasgow.
You will preferably be a chartered engineer and /or transport planning professional with a strong track record of developing/implementing transport strategy and policy development/planning. You will also have experience of managing large scale strategic programmes and projects.
A Degree or equivalent in an engineering or related discipline and/or an equivalent transport planning qualification is essential.  A current driving licence is desirable.

Under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, this post is politically restricted.
