Job Description

An opportunity has arisen with Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability’s ASSIST and Domestic Abuse service for a Lead Advocate to join our team on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2023.

Position Details

ASSIST is an accredited Independent Domestic Abuse Advocacy service which works in close partnership with Police Scotland, COPFS and other statutory and voluntary partner agencies to support the delivery of a pro-active, rapid, and stream-lined response to those affected by domestic abuse, and who are interacting with the criminal justice system. ASSIST uses risk assessment and safety planning processes to ensure the client is at the centre of interventions.

The Lead Advocate will be the first point of contact for Advocacy Workers and Children and Young Persons Advocacy Workers in the provision of the ASSIST service to clients, primarily via telephone. The Lead Advocate will also complete an initial review of all ASSIST client intake to identify and focus on those most at risk.

ASSIST staff are co-located in Police stations in East Kilbride, Kilmarnock, Paisley and Dumbarton as well as having their main office in Glasgow. Shortly the service will also expand into Dumfries & Galloway. The location of the post will be discussed during the interview process.

The position requires membership to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme (Vulnerable Adults & Children).
