Principal Planner (City Development Plan)

Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen to manage the Development Plan team for Glasgow at an exciting time for the City. The post-holder will have an interesting and varied professional workload. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Principle Planner responsible for delivering the planning work programme to deliver a new City Development Plan for Glasgow (as set out in our Development Plan Scheme) and other planning strategies such as the Open Space Strategy. You will develop networks in and outwith the Council to facilitate decisions and represent the Council in meetings to provide advice and take decisions within the policy framework. Reporting to the Group Manager you will direct and drive the work programme and be accountable for the allocation of tasks and completion of work priorities, prepare and deliver committee reports and consultation responses on behalf of the council. You will give specialist planning policy advice to management, politicians, colleagues and customers and be proactive in meeting performance targets and corporate objectives. An education to degree level in a relevant discipline e.g Planning, Architects or Urban Design and a Chartered Membership of Royal Town Planning Instituate or equivilant is essentail.  Experience in development plan/policy development is desirable.
