Job Description

An opportunity has arisen with Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability’s ASSIST and Domestic Abuse service for a Service Manager to join our team on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2023.

Position Details

ASSIST is an accredited Independent Domestic Abuse Advocacy service which works in close partnership with Police Scotland, COPFS and other statutory and voluntary partner agencies to support the delivery of a pro-active, rapid, and stream-lined response to those affected by domestic abuse, and who are interacting with the criminal justice system. ASSIST uses risk assessment and safety planning processes to ensure the client is at the centre of interventions.

As part of ongoing work at a national, and local, level to tackle domestic abuse, ASSIST is expanding into Dumfries & Galloway and is now seeking to recruit a Service Manager to lead this new team.

The Service Manager will manage and support a team providing a direct service to abuse victims/survivors and to other service users with complex needs. A sound understanding of the issues surrounding domestic abuse, a commitment to partnership working and an understanding of the impact domestic abuse has on children, families and communities is essential.

The work pattern for the post is 4 days out of 5, Monday – Friday, to be agreed at the point of offer. The annual salary is on an incremental scale starting at £29,660.94 and progressing to £34,060.03.

This post will be based at Dumfries Police Station, Loreburn Street, DG1 1HP with occasional attendance in the main office in Glasgow.

The position requires membership to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme (Vulnerable Adults & Children). As part of the pre-employment checks for this post the successful candidate will have to undergo a non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 2 check, due to ASSIST’s co-location with Police Scotland.
