An exciting opportunity has arisen with Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability’s TARA Service. TARA (Trafficking Awareness Raising Alliance) is a service which provides a Scotland wide assessment and support service to vulnerable women who have been trafficked for commercial sexual exploitation.
We are seeking to recruit a Transitions Officer to join our small, busy team providing frontline response to survivors of human trafficking and exploitation recovered in Scotland. This post is being recruited on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2022, based on current Scottish Government funding, and the work pattern for the post is Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm (inclusive of a 1-hour unpaid break).
The Transitions Officer will support TARA Development Officers and service users to create a move on plan to assist TARA service users when they are exiting the service. They will be responsible for implementing and periodically reviewing this plan with the TARA service user and undertaking proactive outreach with individual women for up to 12 months. There is an expectation to facilitate and provide continuing support to the development of an Advisory Group consisting of former TARA Service users.
Further details of what the role entails are noted in the Job Description for the post, whilst the Person Specification document confirms the competencies the successful candidate will require to demonstrate.
The position requires membership to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme (Vulnerable Adults). For further information on this scheme, please visit https://www.mygov.scot/working-jobs/finding-a-job/disclosure/. The cost of membership, or scheme record update, will be met by the candidate.
Additionally, due to a genuine occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010 this post is restricted to women only.
This post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Amendment Order 2015. A full list of convictions that must always be disclosed and convictions that should be disclosed subject to rules is available on the Disclosure Scotland website: www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.
