King's Park Primary School is in Dalkeith and was built in 1903, with a second building added circa 1950 and a Nursery extension added in the 1970s. The catchment is very diverse, with pupils coming from all 10 SIMD zones. Currently, there are 18 classes, including a 60/60 nursery class. The school is expected to become a three stream school within the next few years.
The school and nursery have a very good reputation in the local community and visitors comment very positively about the warm and respectful welcome they receive from pupils, staff and parents. We aim to foster self esteem, motivate learners to reach their potential and achieve the highest possible standards. Parents are very committed to supporting local charities such as the Storehouse Foodbank.

There is a healthy balance of new or newly qualified staff along with a loyal, longer serving group of experienced staff. The school community is very committed to continuous improvement. The school works very closely with parents and there is a highly effective PTA and Parent Council.
Post holder must hold a practitioner level qualification (e.g. HNC Childhood Practice at SCQF Level 7.
SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7) that meets the requirements for SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) registration.
Qualifications which were previously recognised for SNNEB/NNEB registration may be acceptable.
An up to date first aid certificate is also required.

Based on you working 36 hours over 39 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £18,902.76 per annum.
