Job Description

Salary – Main Grade £27,498 - £41,412

Type – Permanent

Status – Full Time

Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 32 primary schools (19 of which have nurseries) and 2 stand alone nursery schools. Our special school, Saltersgate, provides support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from our smallest primary school with around 20 children to our largest secondary with over 1200 pupils. We have a diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings. We are fortunate to have a growing number of new build schools, with 15 of our primary schools and 1 secondary having been built within the last 10 years and several new builds planned.

Lasswade School, originally situated at School Green, Lasswade, was the school for the Lasswade and district area for the last century.   The new Primary School was built at Viewbank and opened in 1977.  The modern open-plan school is set in its own grounds, with a playing field.   The main building consists of three large wings, with one smaller wing and newly installed modular units housing present P7 pupils.   A nursery was established in August 2001 and has been expanded to create a larger area therefore, increasing our nursery capacity.   A large hall serves the dual purpose of dining hall/gymnasium.   The school is a co-educational establishment and is non-denominational.   All primary stages are catered for, from P1 to P7 and our Early Learning and Child Care setting caters for children from the age of 3.

At Lasswade Primary School, we strive for excellence in all that we do.  We aim to create optimal conditions for learning for each pupil and staff member.  We actively promote respect, understanding, healthy and responsible living.  Our ultimate aim is for each child to become an architect of their own learning.

We have a highly committed staff of teachers and school support staff who provide high quality learning and teaching experiences, and who contribute to the daily running of the school.  We are looking for an enthusiastic primary teacher to join the Lasswade Team.

Interviews for the above post will take place on 13th December 2021.
