Loanhead Primary School are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Support for Learning Assistant to work within our team.

Demonstrating commitment to the values and principles of GIRFEC, you will work effectively with the school team to meet the needs of all learners.

You will support children with Additional Support Needs on a one to one basis as required.

You will contribute to raising achievement and help in the general supervision, safety, care and wellbeing of children, by supporting the learning process. You will assist in the preparation of materials and day to day organisation of resources as well as general maintenance and upkeep of information and communication technology equipment and resources as required by the teacher.

Assisting children to learn effectively in individual, group or whole class activities, you will motivate, encourage and actively promote positive interaction between children. Listening to pupils and responding accordingly, you will report any concerns and observations to the relevant personnel.

This post is a 16 hour post, 10 am – 2 pm

Interviews will take place on Friday 28th October, in Loanhead Primary School.

Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy at Standard Grade General level or SVQ2 in Early Years Care and Education, or National Certificate unit in Childcare & Education, or equivalent competency, to enable the jobholder to communicate effectively with staff and pupils, and provide sensitive support.

The jobholder must be familiar with child development and able to respond to the needs of individual pupils. Jobholders should have previous experience of working in this field of work. To be fully competent in the role jobholders will be required to undertake additional training courses eg first aid, calm techniques etc.

If the post is within a Nursery Environment then the Jobholder must be registered with or obtain membership with the SSSC within 6 months of appointment. In order to register you must currently hold the relevant qualifications or be willing to work towards attaining these qualifications within the first year of registration.
