Jobholders must hold an SVQ III (Health &Social Care) or be able to demonstrate the relevant competencies required for the role. i.e Assessment, care planning & review, Communicate effectively on difficult, complex and sensitive issues, support individuals to communicate, update and maintain records and reports, reflect on your practice, take action to enhance your practice.
Previous experience of carrying out and implementing care support packages/assessments with an understanding of both the Social care setting and the complexities of telecommunications when programming, installing and resolving faults with the Telecare and CAS equipment.
Experience of working with people deemed at risk including homeless, older people, people with mental health problems, people with learning disabilities and disabled people is necessary, as well as a general knowledge of social work related legislation, government/council strategic aims.
Jobholders must also have knowledge of Data Protection compliance to ensure the exchanging of information is within the guidelines.
An awareness of what local guidelines/legislative context applies i.e Community Care Act, Adult Support & Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 & Data Protection Act (1998) within which the service operates is required. Mandatory first aid & basic manual handling training is required.
Knowledge of Telecare equipment is desirable.( installing ,maintaining and repairing basic systems)
Once in post, Jobholders are required to attend higher level awareness courses such as Capacity and Consent courses to fully understand the implications of not recognising the signs or the current legislative requirements as detailed above.
