Midlothian

We are looking for an experienced, forward-looking project manager to join our team and deliver major projects. You will initially be challenged with delivering the Council’s 2 year, £10 million ‘Equipped for Learning’ project, focussed on giving each school pupil in Midlothian an iPad or Chromebook.

This project is about ensuring an optimal learning outcome for Midlothian’s pupils and you will be coordinating the work of multiple technical and educational teams and work-streams including;

Migrating mail and data from Microsoft and Google tenancies to our new Google Enterprise workspace

Streamlining and upgrading the school wi-fi networks and WAN capacity

Deployment of new devices and the efficient reallocation / removal of existing windows hardware

Training and support of over 4,000 teaching staff on the new technologies

Supporting a wider digital programme across our education estate

You will be working to the Senior Responsible Officer for the project and supported by a project team drawn from the Digital Learning and Digital Service teams you will report to a dedicated  project board comprised of senior education, finance and digital leaders. You will also be periodically reporting to the Chief Executive on project progress.

The role will initially be remote working during the current Covid pandemic but it is expected that this will become a blend of remote and in-office working when conditions warrant it.

Essential

  • A degree or membership of professional body or evidence of equivalent competency is required. A post-graduate qualification is desirable. In exceptional circumstances consideration will be given to individuals who can demonstrate appropriate and relevant experience in this area.
  • Previous experience of managing large complex, multidisciplinary projects
  • PRINCE 2 Practitioner qualification
  • Agile project management experience (PMI-ACP / Prince2 APM/ Scrum Master or equivalent)

The jobholder must have experience of maintaining effective relationships with a wide 

  • range of organizations and individuals.
  • Knowledge of Google Enterprise and Microsoft Office Enterprise platforms

 

Desirable

Previous project management experience in local government education / school environments
