The Learning Disability Team are looking for a qualified social worker to join the established team. Ideally, applicants will have some experience working with this service user group in a Health or Social Care setting and some general experience working in the community.
You should have an interest in working with adults with learning disabilities and a working knowledge of community care and Adult Protection principles. You will have good communication skills (both verbal and written); the ability to assess and review the needs of individuals; to prioritise workloads; case management; to manage your time effectively; meet challenges and use your initiative/work autonomously when required.
You should have good negotiating and problem solving skills; the ability to build good, trusting relationships with supported people, colleagues and other professional staff; have a history of honesty and integrity and be an effective team member. You will have the confidence to challenge and manage conflict/concern.
A degree in Social Work and registration with the SSSC as a Social Worker is essential. A Diploma in Social Work with SSSC registration as a social worker is an acceptable alternative.
The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update/check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Midlothian Council.
