Saltersgate School is situated within the Dalkeith Schools Community Campus and currently caters for 97 children and young people with a wide range of additional support needs. The school is a non-denominational primary and secondary school whose catchment area extends to the whole of Midlothian. Built in 2003, the school provides accommodation to meet both the needs of the classroom and specialist subject teachers. The school also accesses the campus facilities consisting of swimming pool, hydro pool, gym halls, fitness suite, assembly hall and outside sporting areas.

The school management consists of a Head Teacher, 2 Depute Head Teacher and 4 Principal Teachers, each with responsibility for a specific area of the school and one with responsibility for our Inclusion and Outreach Service. In total there are 125 education staff; 37 teaching staff and 88 support staff, plus a range of health professionals including nursing, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists.

We are recruiting for a Statutory Minute Taker as part of our school administration team.  The successful candidate will be an experienced administrator with experience in coordinating and minuting complex meetings for children and young people including Child Planning Meetings and Multi-Agency Meetings.   The successful candidate will also lead the administration of Coordinated Support Plans for Saltersgate School.



The Jobholder requires a minimum qualification to HNC/ SVQ3 level in business studies, office management or administration or an acceptable equivalent qualification and/or extensive demonstrative experience to this level in one of the identified disciplines would be an acceptable alternative.



To be competent in the role the Jobholder must have good interpersonal skills and knowledge of the various systems and software including Microsoft packages.  S/he must also have previous experience of working to strict deadlines, co-ordinating and taking minutes and producing complex documents.  S/he must also be able to type at speed.


An understanding of the services the Council provides to the community and the relevant regulatory frameworks associated with this would also be desirable.

Based on you working 27 hours 30 minutes over 39 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £16,571.05 per annum.
