Fusion Assets is looking for an experienced Development Manager to help deliver the company’s growing portfolio of property development and commercial regeneration projects.

Role Summary

This new post offers an exciting opportunity for someone with commercial acumen who is interested in taking forward commercial property development and regeneration projects within the context of public–private partnerships. The Development Manager’s responsibilities cover the full spectrum of property development from project initiation to completion and disposal. This includes site identification, acquisition, masterplanning, project management of infrastructure and building construction works, property letting, asset management and investment sales.

The Person

This is a senior appointment reporting directly to the Managing Director of Fusion Assets but with a large degree of autonomy. As well as managing Fusion Assets’ portfolio of development opportunities, the Development Manager will be responsible for liaising with external joint venture partners and funders as well as internally with Council officers and other key public sector stakeholders. There will also be an element of corporate work including preparing and presenting project updates and reports to the Board of Fusion Assets.

As such you should be educated to degree level with considerable experience of all aspects of the property development cycle, ideally within both the public and private sectors.  You should have experience of budgetary management and overseeing the management of property agents, construction contracts, land assets and consultants. You will need a good understanding of property development and urban regeneration and the key issues which underpin commercial viability and deliverability. Most of all you need to be innovative, determined and resilient to successfully deliver on the company’s business objectives and its shared ambition with North Lanarkshire Council.

About Fusion Assets

Fusion Assets is the arms-length property development company of North Lanarkshire Council that is responsible for promoting urban regeneration and economic development within the local area. Fusion Assets operates a unique funding and delivery model that seeks to attract investment into North Lanarkshire by working in partnership with the private sector to improve derelict sites and identify commercially viable development opportunities. The company’s current focus is on industrial development but it can also cover other market sectors, including office, retail, residential and mixed use.

The Development Manager is a permanent North Lanarkshire Council position involving a full-time secondment to Fusion Assets Ltd for an initial period of three years.  This is a unique opportunity to be employed by the 4th largest local authority in Scotland and be involved in public/private sector projects.

The role will be flexibly located, utilising a mixture of home-working with office-based work within North Lanarkshire and you will be expected to travel throughout North Lanarkshire and surrounding areas to attend meetings and site visits.
