Are you looking for work with children within a school environment? Are you enthusiastic about working with children? Then a Dining Room Assistant post at Townhead PS, Coatbridge, may be just what you are looking for.

Your main duties will involve ensuring our children are safe and happy during the meal break. You will work as part of the school team, directed by the Head Teacher to supervise children during meal times in the dining hall or other areas of the school, assisting with welfare and promoting positive conduct in line with Council policy and procedures.  You will also be responsible for cleaning tables and any spillages, ensuring the dining area is clean and tidy at all times.

Experience of working with children in a school situation or voluntary capacity, and the ability to work well with children with additional needs are desirable. You will be a positive, approachable and pleasant individual with good communication and interpersonal skills. You will be punctual, reliable, have a basic knowledge of hygiene and cleanliness and also have the ability to execute routine tasks on your own initiative as well as working to the instruction of the Head Teacher.

You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to commencing in this role.

Work Pattern

Monday to Friday - 11:45 -13:15 - 7.5 Hours per week

For any Teacher/Music Instructor who commences employment during the academic year, depending on the date, the teacher may owethe new Authoritymonies.  If the teacher has transferred from another Scottish Local Authority they may have received an inflated final salary payment.

When an employee has a negative balance on starting, the following action will take place:

If the employee has commenced from another Scottish Local Authority, they will have received a balancing payment through that Local Authority’s leaver payment. In these circumstances, the negative balance should be recovered as quickly as possible.

If the employee has commenced and has not joined from another Scottish Local Authority, the negative balance should be spread equally amongst the remaining months of the year.  We will inform any employee in this situation before pay day advising them of how the negative balance will be recovered.
