We are looking for a committed and skilled Heritage Technician to join the Museums & Collections team at North Lanarkshire Council.

Based within Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life, with a remit that covers all North Lanarkshire museums, the Heritage Technician plays a pivotal role in the safe running, maintenance, and restoration of the historic trams & tramway; steam engines and vehicles; engineering tools; and the museum workshop.

The Heritage Technician also supports volunteers and work placements, engages with visitors about the work done in museums and supports the curatorial team on projects.

You will be a qualified to SVQ3, HNC or Apprenticeship level in a relevant discipline with an interest in historic engines, vehicles and tools. Moderate experience of maintenance planning, problem solving and a full clean driving licence, you will also be prepared to achieve all necessary further qualifications.

A positive attitude to health & safety and a willingness to help the whole team achieve results will help make you a successful candidate.

Work pattern : 35 hours per week (5 over 7 days)

*For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip.  You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
