An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Education and Families Service to appoint an Instrumental Music Instructor for Drum Kit / Percussion. The post-holder will have a multi-faceted role to play in the delivery of effective instrumental lessons to pupils within local schools.  The post will require commitment, determination and drive to support the recovery of the service. The post-holder will work closely with, and report to the Instrumental Music Service Lead Officer.

Candidates will have a recognised qualification in music or have gained significant and relevant experience as a musician within an educational context and be able to teach in groups including, where appropriate, multiple instruments within their specialism and whole class music activities in primary schools.

Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of the performance requirements for all levels of SQA examinations and be familiar with appropriate, challenging and engaging repertoire relevant to their specialism covering each stage of pupil development.

Good communication, strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to undertake training is essential, and candidates should have an ongoing commitment to career long professional learning.

Recent teaching experience within an educational environment is desirable.

Prior to commencing in this role you will be required to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member.

You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to commencing in this role.
