We are looking for an innovative and confident leader to join our team within Asset & Procurement Solutions where we strive for excellence and support the achievement of the council’s ambitions. Our service has responsibility for a fully integrated asset management service to our community and corporate buildings. In addition, we procure and deliver the council’s major investment programme for schools and community facilities and provide a professional procurement support, information and advice service to all Service areas in the council.

The Procurement and Support Manager has council wide responsibility for the procurement function, delivering a progressive, proactive and responsive service. This a key role, working collaboratively with stakeholders to influence choice, prioritise change and deliver efficiency savings, wider social value and process improvement in relation to the Councils external procurement spend. In addition, as part of the Leadership Team within Asset and Procurement Solutions, the development and implementation of service and council strategies and initiatives is a priority.

This post represents an exciting and challenging opportunity for a highly motivated individual who has substantial relevant experience which includes establishing and implementing a strategic framework for the provision of services which is business led, customer focused, provides value for money and embeds a culture of continuous improvement.

To succeed in this role you will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline and committed to continuous professional development. It would be advantageous to hold membership of an appropriate Professional Institute, for example, full membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply.

An excellent leader, you will have experience of developing multi agency initiatives, strategies and policies, budgetary experience and a sound knowledge of legislation and initiatives in relation to the procurement field. You will also have experience of successfully leading projects. Excellent communication skills are a key requirement of this post both through the demonstration of negotiation, presentation and influencing skills and in written communication and report writing.

As a result of Covid-19 and in line with the Council’s interim home working policy, this role will predominately be carried out from home.

This post is temporary for a period of 23 months.
