North Lanarkshire Council is embarking on a further phase of procurement transformation, with a new Procurement Strategy, a procurement improvement project and a new approach to working with the rest of the organisation. This presents an exciting opportunity for a motivated and customer focused procurement professional to join and enhance the Councils procurement team where you will play a key role in achieving the Council’s ambitions.
This role offers a varied range of responsibilities including supporting the implementation of a challenging procurement strategy, the harmonisation of processes and systems and the delivery of measurable efficiencies across the Council. The role also offers considerable potential to use and develop your skills and you will receive ongoing support to aid your progression.
You will have an SVQ3/HNC or equivalent CIPS qualification and have extended procurement experience gained with a large multifunctional organisation including experience of tendering and contracting activity, the delivery of procurement efficiencies, and, implementation and operation of electronic procurement solutions. Experience of supervising staff is desirable.
An in depth knowledge of the appropriate statutory, legal and EU, UK and local government regulatory framework for procurement and the delivery of successful collaborative and e-procurement initiatives is essential, as is the ability to make a considerable contribution to delivering the procurement transformation agenda across the Council.
Sound judgement, a professional and collaborative approach, and the ability to make a considerable contribution to delivering the procurement transformation agenda across the Council are essential qualities for your success in this post. Good verbal and written communication skills, good analytical skills and good IT skills are also deemed essential.
