This is a unique opportunity to manage six small licenced airfields used for the operation of the internal air service in the Orkney Islands, which includes the world’s shortest scheduled flight between the islands of Westray and Papa Westray. You will be based in Kirkwall, the historic capital situated on the Mainland of Orkney, but will involve frequent travel to the island airfields which are located on the picturesque northern islands.
The duties include ensuring the airfields meet Civil Aviation Authority category 1 licencing requirements, together with the management and training of the 60 or so casual airfield staff on the islands.
You will be educated to at least SVQ Level 3 or equivalent SCQF level 7 qualification in a subject relevant to enable entrance to training programmes required by CAA and NATS in order to demonstrate competency.
You are also required to have sufficient relevant experience in the operation and maintenance of licenced airfields to be considered competent by the Civil Aviation Authority.
