Human Resources Adviser
17.5 hours per week (preferably Wednesday – Friday)
Temporary maternity cover for a period of up to 12 months
£22,004 - £24,084 / £24,504 - £26,876 pro rata (Including Distant Islands Allowance)
This is an excellent opportunity to join a small team focused around the delivery of high quality and responsive HR support and advice to Council Services. This role will primarily support Orkney Health and Care and Education, Leisure and Housing Services.
The successful individual will be actively involved in a range of employee relations and generalist HR work including recruitment and selection, sickness absence and advising on terms and conditions of employment.
You will be confident and able to work as part of a small and busy team and cope with tight deadlines and competing commitments. You must be able to prioritise your own workload and have a customer focused approach. You should be able to demonstrate knowledge of current employment legislation and how this impacts the workplace. You should also have experience of providing advice in respect of employee relations/HR issues.
For appointment at G6
You should either hold a minimum of an SVQ 3 or equivalent level qualification in a relevant subject, or be able to demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of work experience within HR providing advice and guidance to managers.
For appointment at G7
You should hold a minimum of SVQ 4 or equivalent level qualification in a relevant subject.
Associate membership of the CIPD or the ability to be assessed as such against the membership criteria would be advantageous.
You should be able to travel independently within and out with Orkney.
It is anticipated that the post will commence at the beginning of April 2018.
