The Responder Service provides a speedy response following falls or other emergencies in the home, ensuring that individuals can remain safely and independently in their own homes and enjoy quality of life. Following on from that success we wish to develop a second Responder team who will be available to provide both immediate and ongoing support to people as a short term measure say following a fall or other minor health issue.
The work will be both challenging and varied, and under guidance from the Responder Co-ordinator you will enable individuals to achieve as much independence as possible, through the provision of some hands on care, the use of assistive technology coupled with the ongoing 24 hour emergency support of the team.
This post would ideally suit someone who has recent work experience in the social care field or similar. You will need the sort of personality that enjoys interacting with people and making a difference to their lives. If you are motivated, caring, honest, can remain calm in a crisis and have a sense of fun, then this could be the job for you and we are waiting to hear from you.
Previous experience of working with older people is essential and you should hold an SVQ 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care or achieve this qualification within a three year period.
The work could be anywhere on the Orkney mainland, so a full current driving licence is essential.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
