We are looking for a positive, proactive, and motivated individual to join our team on a temporary basis as maternity cover.

The team's purpose is to support services to help deliver a diverse range of improvement projects. We support several ‘Our People Our Plan’ priority projects including culture, performance, and housing. We are involved in the improvement of internal processes including document and records management and administration, and in systems development projects including those for the council’s social care and neighbourhood services information management systems. We are also involved in supporting the improvement of front-line services including Children’s Services.

As part of our supportive and outcomes focused team you will have an important role in the delivery of these projects. We need someone who wants to make a difference and has the desire to contribute to the business of the Council where the community is at the centre of what we do. This is a diverse role and will include everything from project coordination and stakeholder engagement to supporting the improvement of systems and processes. Candidates will need to be customer focused, highly organised, and be solution oriented. The ability to communicate and engage effectively with people is an essential part of this role.

This role provides an excellent development or internal secondment opportunity as shared learning and reflection are a core part of how we work. The successful candidate will be supported in this role with opportunities to develop including the option for training, coaching, and mentoring.

This post is subject to Basic Disclosure Scotland clearance.

For an informal discussion about the post, the types of projects we are involved in, or any further information please contact Alex Rodwell or Gael-Isla Orr via alex.rodwell@orkney.gov.uk (01856 873535 ext. 2281) or gael-isla.orr@orkney.gov.uk (01856 873535 ext. 2284).

Closing Date: Sunday 29 May 2022
