Senior Archaeological Project Officer - ORCA Archaeology

Orkney College UHI Archaeology Institute (https://www.uhi.ac.uk/en/archaeology-institute) is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the above post. ORCA is a highly active archaeology projects unit housed within Orkney College, part of Orkney Islands Council and the University of the Highlands and Islands. The unit provides a wide range of land-based and marine archaeological services in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland region and beyond (http://www.orca-archaeology.org/).
The Senior Archaeological Project Officer will have a proven track record in commercial archaeology and be able to take a leading role in a range of complex projects, as well as taking full responsibility for a range of smaller archaeological projects, predominantly in the Highlands and Islands, and occasionally further afield.
Applicants with significant experience in writing land-based and marine Heritage chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments would be particularly welcomed, to help fulfill current commercial requirements.
Applicants must hold an undergraduate Honours Degree in Archaeology or equivalent, and be a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists, or join within 6 months of appointment.
The post is based in Kirkwall, Orkney, and the successful applicant will be required to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
