Senior Duty Officer

14 hours per week
Temporary up to 19 September 2023
£29,998 - £32,929 pro rata (including shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)

A Senior Duty Officer is required to manage a number of sport and leisure facilities, which include: the Kirkwall Grammar School Sports Centre (KGS Sports Centre), the Dounby Centre, 7 Healthy Living Centres, 3 Hostels and 2 Campsites.

The successful candidate will be expected to work shifts that may cover school, public and club sessions over seven days, arrange staff for all facilities and adhere to all financial and health and safety regulations.

You should hold an HNC or other qualification at SCQF7 in a Sport or Leisure related subject or, where the essential qualification is not held, a minimum of 3 years' previous relevant work experience in Sport or Leisure is essential. You should have excellent communication and organisational skills and experience of working in an office environment would be beneficial.

Other qualities will include an ability to work on own initiative, ability to make decisions at management level and to prioritise workload.

A HSE First Aid qualification would also be an advantage.

Applicants should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
