Service Manager (ICT)

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative individual with exceptional leadership skills to lead our ICT team, within the Council’s Neighbourhood Services and Infrastructure directorate located in Kirkwall, Orkney.

The successful applicant will have experience in service delivery management, incident management, technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, ICT strategy and stakeholder management and have excellent interpersonal skills.

The right applicant will also have an enthusiastic approach in supporting the large variety of systems run at Orkney Islands Council and will require excellent technical skills and have the ability to learn to support new systems to a corporate standard.
You will hold a qualification at SCQF 8/9 i.e., SVQ4, Higher National Diploma, Degree or equivalent or valid professional accreditation (e.g. CCNP, CCISP or equivalent) or have a minimum of 4 years previous relevant experience.

You will have the ability to demonstrate advanced technical knowledge, demonstrate knowledge of the application of legislation and regulations relevant to the operation of IS/IT systems.

The Service Manager ICT is responsible for providing professional leadership and management of the Council’s approach to information technology, and its delivery of high-quality systems and support. This includes leading work to maximise the value of the Council’s ICT assets and systems by improving efficiency.

The postholder will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme which is a career average revalued earnings (CARE) defined benefit scheme for which the employer contribution paid is currently 17% in addition to the salary paid.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
