The All Age Learning Disabilities Service is seeking to recruit a Social Care Assistant to join the team for the Supported Living Network and Short Breaks Services. The Short Breaks Service offers individuals who have a Learning Disability the opportunity to have flexible short stays to enable them and their families to have a break. The Supported Living Network delivers a Housing Support and Care at Home Service to enable individuals to live independently and manage their own tenancies. This post will predominantly be based within the Short Breaks part of the service.

Working both on an individual basis and as a member of a team you will adopt a person centred approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within the Short Breaks and Supported Living Network service. You will provide support and assistance to service users to maximise and maintain their independence, achieve their desired goals/outcomes and to access community facilities. You will have an awareness of contributing to the Support Planning process.

You should have experience of working with people who have Learning Disabilities, be committed to the principles of social inclusion and have a good understanding of the agenda for change within disability services.

You should hold an SVQ 2 in Health & Social Care or other relevant qualification(s) to enable registration with SSSC or requirement to achieve relevant qualification(s) within 5 years of appointment.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.

For an informal discussion regarding the above post, please contact Angela Clissett, Senior Social Care Worker on 01856 871430 or Inga Wilson, Registered Manager on 01856 876160.
