Social Care Worker

The Glaitness Centre is located in Kirkwall and comprises purpose built supported accommodation, a short breaks house, and day care facilities for people with physical disabilities. There will be opportunity to work in all parts of the service, as the service requires.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person who is able to work both on an individual basis and as a member of a team. You will adopt a person-centred, outcome focused approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within the Supported Accommodation, Short Breaks and Day Service. You will provide support and assistance to service users using the re-ablement approach that includes support and assistance to service users to maximise and maintain their independence and to access community facilities. You should have knowledge and experience of Support Planning and Risk Assessing in relation to people who have disabilities and be committed to the principles of social inclusion.

To be appointed at G5:
You should hold an SVQ2 in Social Services and Health Care or equivalent level qualification. There is a requirement to achieve an SVQ3 in Social Services and Health Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with SSSC as a Practitioner in a Housing Support service with Care at Home within 5 years of appointment.

To be appointed at or to progress to G6:
You should hold an SVQ3 in Social Services and Health Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with SSSC as a Practitioner in a Housing Support service with Care at Home.

You are required to register with the SSSC as a Practitioner in a Housing Support service with Care at Home within 6 months of employment.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
