As a teacher working at Sanday School you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse age range of pupils, as our school welcomes pupils from 3 – 16 years of age. You will be expected to deliver high quality learning experiences for pupils in S1 – 4 ensuring that the pupils can attain the very highest of qualifications. Teachers at Sanday School need a high degree of flexibility and the ability to work independently.
The Social Subjects classroom is well resourced. On our island you have many opportunities to undertake field work and create relevant learning contexts for pupils. As a Social Subjects teacher, you have access to World Class Archaeological sites both on our island and on Mainland Orkney. We work closely with other colleagues in Orkney's two other Junior High Schools. Our pupils move to Kirkwall Grammar School after S4 and we have close links with this school.
We have a diverse range of afterschool activities and each pupil takes part in at least one club over the course of the year. We have achieved International School Status and are linked with a school in Malawi, we have achieved our Silver Eco Schools award. We have had much success at a National Level with a variety of competitions.

This teaching position in Sanday offers the healthy balance of interesting involving work and a tranquil peaceful environment within which to relax and enjoy. Salary will be based on the SNCT Salary Tables plus an Outer Islands Allowance. We also offer a generous relocation package.
