An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Property and Capital Projects function for a Team Manager to lead the Projects Team.
We are looking for an experienced professional with Quantity Surveying and Project Management skills. The post also requires extensive professional experience in quantity surveying, contract management, along with working in a team environment.

Reporting to the Service Manager you will manage the day-to-day workload of the Projects team and will be responsible for the execution of allocated projects from early inception to completion by carrying out the full range of professional duties associated with undertaking construction projects.
You should be able to demonstrate the full range of professional duties associated with quantity surveying, with a good understanding of construction detailing, materials specification, contract administration and project management together with an understanding of contract issues and CDM Regulations.
You will be customer focused and continually seek ways to improve all aspects of our service delivery model and actively support colleagues to implement changes to policies and working practices.
You are required to hold a qualification in a construction field, building maintenance or facilities management at a SCQF level 9 qualification ie. Ordinary degree. You should also have significant professional experience as a qualified surveyor and have full chartered membership of an appropriate professional body i.e. MRICS or MCIOB.
The post holder will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme which is a career average revalued earnings (CARE) defined benefit scheme, for which the employer contribution paid is currently 17.0%, representing a benefit from £7,168 to £7,580 in addition to the salary paid.
You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
