A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Supported Living Team for a dynamic and motivated individual to join the learning disability service which is part of the Health and Social Care Partnership. You will proactive in your approach to housing support and will support individuals in their own tenancies to lead as ordinary a life as possible. You will encourage and assist with a variety of daily living tasks, and support individuals to access activities in the community as outlined in individual support plans. You will support and encourage individuals to undertake all aspects of daily living, this including personal care tasks. You will assist individuals in group activities, in addition to accessing community based social and leisure related opportunities. Duties may also include undertaking learning and other domestic duties as necessary.
You should have experience of working with vulnerable adults who have learning disabilities/ autistic spectrum disorders. In addition you should have good communication skills and an awareness of Health & Safety. Community working is required to support tenants in their own homes and in localities such as Perth & Blairgowrie. You will have the ability to make decisions and know when to seek further advice from a manager. Be able to develop good working relationships with colleagues and other goals to ensure shared goals are achieved. Take responsibility for yourself, customers/ service users, contractors and others and ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety legislation. Promote and act as a role model for the Council's values and commitment to equality and diversity. Promote positive values and anti-discriminatory, non judgemental practise and treat colleagues and customers with dignity and respect in line with SSSC Codes of Conduct. You must have a valid UK driving licence as driving is a job requirement to be able to carry out a function that is intrinsic to the operational needs of the service. No entry qualification, but required and supported to work towards SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF level 6 (was SVQ2). You will be required to be registered with the SSSC within 6 months of start date.
