Property Services provide professional services for the development and maintenance of a significant portfolio of public buildings including secondary, primary and nursery schools, residential homes, offices, day care facilities, civic buildings and other facilities.

The Service draws together all of the key elements of building operational management and construction, design and procurement. The Compliance Team deal with a complex array of compliance and servicing contracts to ensure legal health & safety compliance across the entire operational (non-domestic) estate, and assist in informing the Planned Maintenance programmes.

The team requires an additional Asbestos Compliance Officer to provide advice and support on day-to-day asbestos matters at a professional level. This will be a challenging role within a dynamic multi disciplinary Office.

Duties will include ensuring that the asbestos register for each site is kept up to date following receipt of survey reports and remediation paperwork. You will attend project design team meetings to advise colleagues on the requirement to obtain asbestos surveys, assisting with the interpretation and audit of survey reports and ensuring that colleagues understand the implications for their project works; discuss the most appropriate method for managing the asbestos remediation works and assist colleagues with the process. In some instances this may mean acting as Project Manager for the remediation works and associated analytical services. You will be required to provide a detailed scope of works for asbestos surveys and remediation exercises which will involve site visits with the design team and asbestos consultants/contractors.  

Requirements

Do you hold a Certificate of Proficiency: P402 Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings (essential qualification); and Certificate of Proficiency: P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings or Certificate of Competence in Asbestos looking for a position with excellent benefits?  We would welcome applicants who have significant asbestos industry experience working for a UKAS accredited consultancy and appropriate compliance experience working for a duty holder who can demonstrate that they are dedicated to working to a high standard and provide excellent customer service.

To undertake the role we require excellent planning and organisational skills along with the ability to ensure target deadlines are achieved.  Attention to detail is an essential criteria for this role. Supervisory skills are required as the post holder will be responsible for assisting with the management of contractors.

You must hold a current full driving licence, as travel within Perth & Kinross is a key requirement of the role.

A good working knowledge in the use of computer packages including Microsoft applications and experience of asset management systems.

Working as part of a team you will assist in the management of asbestos within the Property Estate in accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and all associated HSE guidance.
